8th Annual César E. Chávez March!
March 10, 2008
Welcome Back!
January 7, 2008
"To maintain, strengthen, and educate with passion and creativity, the spirit, philosophy, and struggle of César E. Chávez, Dolores Huerta, and the United Farm Workers' Union..."
With these words as our mission statement, the Arizona César E. Chávez Holiday Coalition is once again preparing for another great "César Chávez Week" in March and April of 2008.
On Monday, March 31, The Coalition is kicking off its 8th Annual Youth Conferance with 4 days of workshops, events, presentations, and visits to Southern Arizona middle and high schools. Our goal is to coordinate 50 community leaders to conduct 100 presentations to over 3,000 students in Arizona.
The week will culminate with our annual march from Pueblo High School to Rudy Garcia Park in Tucson on Saturday, April 5th. Dolores Huerta is once again scheduled to lead the march and be our keynote speaker.
If you are interested in participating in this year's events, please contact the Coalition for information. We would like to invite the entire Southern Arizona community to the march and to anyone interested in the school presentations, either as a presenter or have a presenter come to your school.
Please check back often for more detailed information on other events during "Chávez Week" as the date approaches. We are also planning interesting fundraisers, lectures, and events intended to fulfill our mission statement of advocacy, self-determination and awareness of César E. Chávez, a true giant in the Social Justice struggle.
